The award ceremony for the winners of the annual competition officially concluded the programme of the largest Croatian festival of photography, Rovinj Photodays, in the full Adris hall.
Awards were granted in seven official categories, three of which were won by Italians, while four laureates come from Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia and Argentina. Their works were presented for the first time in a group exhibition of all finalists, which was also the central event of this year's festival.
This year, the festival Grand Prix was awarded for the first time and the winner in the Portraits category, Argentinean Rodrigo Illescas, was handed the Grand Prix by the head selector David Bate. Winning this award means that Rodrigo will have a new solo exhibition with the corresponding accompanying publication at the Rovinj Photodays 2016 festival.
This travelling exhibition will also be shown in other Croatian towns, such as Pula, Rijeka and Zagreb, as well as in institutions and festivals throughout Europe. The aim is to strengthen the contemporary photographic scene in the entire region, and the authors are provided a quality platform for the presentation of art work to the general public and the international photographic community.
This year, as in previous years, the festival brought together a number of names from the social and public life and a large number of photographers and photography experts from around the world. The next competition will be announced in December this year.
