The series Daniel really came to life in my mind after the numerous coronavirus lockdowns and all the time spent alone in my room in Montreal. I was deeply affected on a social level, and after a while, I realized how lucky I had always been to have the life I used to live.

Afterwards, I thought about all those people who were already socially isolated and, in a way, had been confined long before the coronavirus hit.

That’s when I met Daniel.

Daniel has been the caretaker of the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Chapel for almost 27 years.
A former drug addict, he believes that his faith saved his life.
Taciturn and solitary, he quietly carries out the tasks that shape his silent daily routine.

His life mainly consists of simple meals, maintaining the chapel, and long moments of solitude.
Through his world, I question my own anxieties—such as aging, social isolation, and the deeper meaning of our existence.
