For the fourteenth year in a row, the fascinating exhibition ‘Friends of the Sea’ is touring the town squares and promenades of the Croatian Adriatic coast. During the summer of 2024, the exhibition will be seen by a large number of visitors at nine destinations in Istria and the Northern Adriatic.

About the ‘Friends of the Sea’ project
In 2009, Livingstone association and Astoria company from Rijeka launched a national culture & tourism campaign called ‘Friends of the Sea’. The campaign is based on exhibiting large format photographs during the summer months, to raise awareness of the Croatian public and all the visitors of the role of photography in media culture as well as the importance of social responsibility and necessity of constant promotion of ecology and conservation of the Adriatic Sea.

The 2024 exhibition – Friends of the Sea: Fishing
The 2024 exhibition ‘Friends of the Sea’ exhibition, through 30 large formats, examines fishing and life at sea and presents visuals as seen by photographers looking for their authentic shots in the optical play of light. The goal of this exhibition is to show local and foreign visitors an enviable media culture through photography, which, as a theme in a given time, shows people and fishing, the center point of their life. The photographic excellence of the selected authors manifests itself in their understanding of artistic aesthetics.

The works were selected by the expert team of the “Rovinj Photodays” festival, and the authors are: Petar Trinajstić, Ivan Kosić, Danijel Frka , Aleksandar Tomulić i Sandro Puncet.

In cooperation with their Tourist Boards, Friends of the Sea will be hosted by: Pula, Rovinj, Mali Lošinj, Krk, Njivice, Omišalj, Baška, Punat, Šilo and Malinska.
